MISSION STATEMENT

We seek the Annihilation of Institutional perceptions through grace, bravery, inspiration, and, of course, laughter! (insert smiley face here)

For 41 seasons Yale Cabaret has been a place of innovation and experimentation.  As we begin its 42nd season, we demand that it be more than that for we maintain that art is not a luxury, but a responsibility and a necessity.

Our Cabaret will be…

• A gauntlet thrown in the face of our future
• A scar in the memory of our audience
• A ballerina dancing with a stick of dynamite.

We are dedicated to an uncompromising vision of producing rigorous work of transcendent artistry.  Work that lets no one off the hook, that demands we look at ourselves and each other, using everything from laughter to violence to expose reality through the illusions of art.  We want to rearrange our dreams, burn our nightmares into reality, seduce the angels of our better nature, and laugh with our demons.

We expect:

• Our audiences to ask questions
• Our productions to inspire conflict
• Our work to demand more from audience and artist, and

For us to all become better human beings as a result.
